web2awards

The web2awards were established by Printing Industries of America to recognize, honor, and elevate standards for websites that are print-centric. The mission of the web2awards judging body, consisting of educators, designers, web/e-commerce experts, marketers, and industry consultants, is to honor excellence in the various categories of print-related websites.

In its third year, the web2awards is the premier—and only—annual award competition that names the best websites in the print/marketing service provider industry. Enter the web2awards to impress your clients, create an Internet marketing opportunity, or receive valuable feedback regarding the status of your own website development efforts.

Based on feedback from our first two years, we’ve revamped the entry categories and streamlined the entry process to better reflect how print ecommerce and web-based marketing is evolving.

An Interview With Past Recipient, Charlie Corr, Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Mimeo.com

Charlie Corr, Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Mimeo.com, took a moment of his time to talk to us about his experience with the web2awards, printing things via a web storefront, the role of social media, the importance of embracing new technology, how to leverage that technology and so much more.

Entry

The entry fee will be only $99 for Printing Industries of America members and $199 for non-members. We will be accepting submissions from March 31, 2011 until June 10, 2011.

Rules and Eligibility

The web2awards competition is open to all organizations and individuals who are involved in designing, managing, or implementing websites that are “print-centric,” meaning that the website’s focus must include sale/exchange of printed material and/or promote a printer’s capabilities on the Internet or an Intranet. In the case of case studies involving social media, cross-media campaigns, and promotional sites, there has to be at least one printed component of the program.

Entries must be live and available on the Internet from the date of entry through September 14, 2011. Sites must be accessible via http and standard web browsers.

Submitters bear all responsibility to place their entry into the appropriate category. Judges MAY suggest moving entries into a more appropriate category, but no guarantee is provided that this will be done.

All entries must fill out and submit an entry form. Entries not accompanied with an entry form cannot be processed.

Entries that won Best of Category and Best in Show awards in 2010 are not eligible to enter the 2011 competition unless significant changes have been made.

Award Judging Process

Each of our five judges visits the nominated site and evaluates the entire website experience. All five judges will evaluate each entry on six scoring criteria. Each judge gives each website a score from one to ten in the six criteria. A perfect overall score would be 300 points, which equates to scores of ten for all six criteria from all five judges. The scores and any comments are recorded.

Any entry receiving a total score above 240 (an average score of 48 from each judge) will receive an Exceptional Website Award certificate. For each company sales range, the highest score in a given category wins Best of Category. All Best of Category winners will be evaluated to select Best of Show. The People’s Choice Award will be awarded based on total votes received for each website at www.printing.org/web2awards
